TRIANGLES, BOTANICAL PRINTS, JAPANESE DEISGN + HOMES AND GARDENS
Its funny how when you can see something that makes an impression and the the same motif pops up everywhere. Well I posted the very beautiful painting Toil of our Hands by Biggs and Collings as shown by the Vigo rally at the London Art Fair, and now I keep seeing triangles before my eyes.
...and this fabulous new stationary range from Graffika, newly available from the shop in Lewes.
We went up to the Spring fair in Birmingham last week braving snow and icy roads, but we found some lovely new things for the shop which are just beginning to arrive. Amongst them are new designs from this Japanese company, Tokyo's edge for beautiful decorating tapes.
I found this incredibly simple, but inspiring packaging idea using the lovely tapes.
We are working on a consultancy project currently which is in sharp contrast, we are sourcing a selection of varied Horticultural works to bring a delicate decorative feel to a lovely Sussex country house. The project takes me back to our very early days in framing when I first fell in love with botanical prints. In our previous shop we were known for a more classic style and I hadn't realised how much I have missed it. Although I do love a good mix of very contemporary artwork juxtaposed with turn of the century natural history illustrators.
My own home has a very varied mix. You can see it in this months Homes and Gardens Magazine, beautifully photographed by Jody Stewart. I find the style so calm and delicate and at the same time surprisingly of the moment.
Butterflies just never seem to go out of fashion.
We are framing a set of six of these stunning exotic fruits which will make our clients kitchen feel well travelled and tropical.
Our window display this week is our three most recent Eric Ravilious prints, published by the Mainstone press at the end of 2011. His beautiful watercolours look as fresh and immediate as if he had sat up the Downs yesterday and painted them.
Exciting plans already germinating for the next window as soon as new gorgeous things arrive!
